I just realised how pampered and lucky we, normal humans, are. And when I say, normal, I meant those who have all the perfect body organs, those who can have all the 'wants', those with a happy family or even those who have a suitable home. Comes to think of it, these people sometimes do take advantage of what they have now and only treasure them when they lost it.
Why I say all this is because I happen to walk along a pathway yesterday night while I'm on my way home. I was listening to my mp3 at that point of time and I was brisk walking because the time was almost reaching 10. 5 mins of walking later, my pace slowed down a little bit because with the corner of my eye, I saw this man, in his 40s, sitting on a wheelchair, without both of his legs. I was so sad for him because I can tell that he was using all his strength of his both arms to move himself. I pitied him because his life will be of hardships. He looked at me, hurriedly, and left. His eyes touched me because it showed his willingness to move about and how he insisted to have lots of freedom.
I continued my way home, thinking. I recalled those people who still have leg strength and the ability to move about freely with their legs. How pampered they are, how they said that they are lazy to walk and how dependable they are with transports and all. I was shaking my head at this point of time. Then what about those who don't have this ability? Why are they so willing and hardworking who can ONLY depend on both their hands to walk around while those who can move about freely with their legs are so lazy and admit they are tired? How come?
It saddened me a little bit. But I guess, this is how life works isn't it?
People take things for granted now and will only regret them once they are lost. Labels: random
